Chris Chaney announced as new Chief Executive of CW+

31 May 2016

CW+ is delighted to announce the appointment of Chris Chaney as its new Chief Executive, starting in July.

Chris joins CW+ from the University of Cambridge. In his role as Head of Major Gifts, Chris has established the University’s first schools-based fundraising programme, recruiting and embedding a new team of fundraisers across the institution to support core strategic priorities in teaching, research and infrastructure development as part of the University’s £2 billion “Dear World…yours Cambridge” Campaign.

Before Cambridge, Chris spent over ten years at Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSHCC) where he held the post of Deputy Director, Major Gift Fundraising. At GOSHCC Chris was responsible for multiple appeals designed to deliver and grow major gift income and was instrumental in establishing the charity’s clinical research fundraising programme.

Chris has over thirteen years major gift fundraising experience and prior to this worked in the musical arts, representing classical soloists and managing concerts at St Martin-in-the-Fields.

Chris will join CW+ as the charity continues to bring together pioneering research, innovations and facilities, art and design to transform the experience and outcomes for thousands of patients and families every day – at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, West Middlesex University Hospital, in the wider communities and internationally.

Chris commented: “I am delighted to be joining CW+ at such an exciting time for the Charity. The chance to expand the already significant impact CW+ has on the lives of patients and staff at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust represents a unique opportunity. I am looking forward to getting started and to helping the Trust and its outstanding clinical teams realise their ambitious plans to deliver world-class care in a world-class environment to more people than ever before.”

Chris takes over from Mark Norbury, who has moved from the charity after four years to become Chief Executive of UnLtd, the Foundation for Social Entrepreneurs.

Tony Bourne, CW+ Chairman added: “Along with our hospital colleagues, we are delighted to welcome Chris as our new Chief Executive. Chris has vast experience in major gift fundraising, for both Cambridge and Great Ormond Street Hospital, which will undoubtedly help us in achieving our goals. The addition of West Middlesex University Hospital to our Foundation Trust, means we are moving into an exciting time with the opportunity rapidly to increase our impact for even more patients and their families. We have significant and ambitious appeals in the pipeline, which we look forward to achieving with Chris as our leader.”
