Art Collection Volunteer
CW+ manage an art collection of over 1000 works of art on display throughout the wards, clinics and public areas of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. Comprised predominantly of contemporary artworks, the collection contains prints, paintings, sculpture and site-specific commissions by a variety of artists across different genres. The collection is constantly expanding as the hospital grows and we embark on an exciting new programme of acquisitions and commissions.
We require the help of a volunteer to undertake the following collection management duties;
- Researching and writing interpretation labels
- Helping to deaccession artwork
- Auditing, undertaking cleaning and condition checks of pieces
- Cataloguing and adding information to the arts database
This would be a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for visual arts who would like to gain experience for a career in collection management, or the arts in health sector. We would like someone with excellent computer skills, a methodical approach to work with attention to detail, and good verbal and written communication.
There can be flexibility on the amount of time the volunteer can commit but ideally we are looking for someone who will be available regularly, long-term.
Please apply with a CV and covering letter outlining relevant skills and experience to email@example.com
Many of our projects take place on wards, including musicians performing for patients, or participatory dance classes. We require the help of volunteers to supervise these sessions, meeting performers, perhaps helping with refreshments and ensuring things run smoothly. We are looking for people who could commit approximately 1-2 hours a week (on a flexible basis if needs be).
This would be a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for music and dance who would like to gain experience in how the arts are used in hospitals, or the arts-in-health sector. Please apply with a CV and covering letter to firstname.lastname@example.org, and outline what times you would be available each week. Enquire via email or telephone.
Musicians: would you like to donate an hour of your time to charity? We have an opportunity for volunteers to take part in our ‘Tea and Music’ afternoons where patients and relatives enjoy informal performances to relax and distract them.
All styles welcome. Soloists or small ensembles. A piano is available. Expenses will be reimbursed. This is a wonderful way of getting experience of performing in health settings. For more information or if you would like to take part, fill in our volunteer application form.
