CW+ is pleased to announce that it will host the CW+ Nature and Biophilia in Hospitals Symposium 2026 on Friday 5 June 2026 at West Middlesex University Hospital.Â
This one-day event will bring together designers, programme leaders, estates teams, arts and health practitioners and researchers working to increase access to nature and green spaces in hospital settings.Â
The symposium will showcase pioneering work from across the NHS and beyond, exploring how natural environments and biophilic design can enhance patient care, improve staff wellbeing and strengthen hospital communities.Â
Showcase themes
CW+ is now inviting submissions for project presentations across two showcase themes:Â
1. Design and integration of nature and biophilic design in hospitalsÂ
This session will highlight projects focused on the design and implementation of natural or biophilic spaces within hospital environments. This may include:Â
- outdoor and indoor green spacesÂ
- architecture and design incorporating natural elementsÂ
- nature-inspired digital or virtual interventionsÂ
Presentations should ideally include evaluation and user feedback demonstrating the impact of the work on patients, staff and visitors.
2. Participation and nature engagement for hospital communitiesÂ
This session will feature hospital-based participation programmes developed for the benefit of patients, staff and the wider hospital community. Examples may include:Â
- participation programmes offering learning opportunities or skills developmentÂ
- activities using green spaces to support wellbeing, creativity and sustainabilityÂ
- projects that connect hospital communities with nature through structured or therapeutic engagement

Individuals and organisations leading a project or programme within hospital settings and aligned with one of these showcase themes are invited to submit an expression of interest to present at the symposium.Â

Arts in Health
The symposium forms part of the charity’s wider Arts in Health work, supporting creative and therapeutic activity across hospital sites, including music, performance and art therapy programmes.Â
