CW Innovation four-year anniversary

CW+ celebrated the fourth anniversary of its CW Innovation programme by holding special events this week at West Middlesex University Hospital and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. The events provided an opportunity for Trust staff to learn more about the programme and its successes as well as be the first to watch the new CW Innovation film, which showcases the latest innovations at the Trust and features interviews with senior leaders and the CW Innovation team.

Led jointly by CW+ and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, CW Innovation paves the way for new ideas – and new ways of using existing ideas – that will improve patient care, patient experience and the way the Trust’s hospitals and clinics are run. Since its launch in 2019, CW Innovation has developed into a prolific and active programme, and as well as looking at the impact of CW Innovation at the Trust, this week’s events also looked to the future, exploring the theme of ‘Imagining the future of healthcare for today’s patients’.

Trust staff speaking at the events included Dr Sadia Khan, Consultant Cardiologist, who led an InnovaTED Talk on thinking differently. Bruno Botelho, Deputy Chief Operating Officer and Director of Digital Operations, discussed the impact of digital innovation on the way the Trust manages and cares for patients as well as leading a session with Scott Smith, Digital General Manager, on large language models. Dr Lucy Thomas, Consultant Dermatologist, presented with Bex Rowe from Skin Analytics on the project, and members of the CW Innovation team spoke about how the programme can support staff. CW Innovation Advisory Board members, Stephen Rockman and Laura Bond, also led an InnovaTED Talk on where do good ideas come from at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital event.

Tom Carlisle, Digital Innovation Fellow, at CW+ said: ‘It’s been fantastic to celebrate four years of CW Innovation by bringing staff together at the anniversary events this week to reflect on our work and the future of the programme. Our challenge is to keep innovating and modernising, and we are encouraging staff with ideas to come forward. CW Innovation has the people, the funding and the business support to bring ideas to life, and working together we can help to improve patient care and experience at the Trust and beyond’.
