Shadows and Strings

Shadows and Strings is a collaboration between CW+ Arts for All resident artists, Puppeteer, Joni-Rae Carrack, and Harpist, Mark Levin. The duo deliver intimate puppetry and musical performances on the Paediatric wards at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

For their collaboration, Joni created a bespoke shadow puppet suitcase. The handcrafted miniature theatre showcases her carefully designed puppets, that create a beautiful visual accompaniment to Mark’s harp music.  

Mark Levin has a wealth of experience working within hospital environments and creating moments of calm for patients or staff. His musical repertoire for the project has ranged from film soundtracks to nursery rhymes and popular tunes. The duo rehearse their performances to create thematic shows which frequently portray short moments of storytelling.
