CW+ MediCinema

CW+ has joined forces with fellow charity, MediCinema, to bring the 'CW+ MediCinema' to Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

Patients can enjoy the latest film releases, free of charge, right in the heart of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. Patients are encouraged to bring family members or carers along to share the experience together. The state-of-the-art cinema is fully digitalised with 3D screen and Dolby Surround Sound, 40 luxury cinema seats and capacity for six wheelchairs and five beds, which enables patients to enjoy time away from wards with their loved ones. Two nurses are present at every screening so patients can continue to be cared for.

When the space is not being used for film screenings, it provides a state-of-the-art teaching and conferencing facility for clinical staff in the hospital.

We also commissioned artist Andy Council to produce two bespoke murals, which span the exterior walls of the cinema. Following consultation with patients, Andy created a fox and a rhino artwork, which are made up of buildings and local landmarks in the Chelsea and Fulham area. These large artworks will provide an uplifting and interesting point of interest in the hospital for patients, families and staff to enjoy.

4-year-old Sienna has spent most of her life in hospital. Her mum Mandy says: "The CW+ MediCinema has been such a huge thing for us. Through the years in hospital, it has given Sienna the invaluable chance to be the same as other children: the chance to do things an ordinary family, an ordinary child, an ordinary person would do - and that means so much."
