CW+ is pleased to announce the launch of its West Mid Champions programme, which offers individuals, community groups, schools and businesses the opportunity to support the new £80m Ambulatory Diagnostic Centre (ADC) at West Middlesex University Hospital.

The announcement was made yesterday (23 July) at a ‘ground-breaking’ ceremony at West Middlesex University Hospital marking the start of building works on the new five-storey building, which will provide cancer, renal and imaging services for residents of Hounslow, Richmond and Ealing, ensuring that people can access tests and treatment more quickly and closer to home.

As part of the project, CW+ is seeking to raise £1.5m to fund a programme of patient enhancements in the state-of-the-art facility, and is encouraging members of the local community to lend their support by becoming West Mid Champions.

West Mid Champions programme

  • Donations: become a West Mid Champion by donating £5,000 or more to the CW+ West Mid appeal (or £4,000 if you are eligible for gift aid), or pledge £5,000 in instalments
  • Fundraising: plan an event or take on a fundraising challenge to raise £5,000
  • Support: the CW+ fundraising team will be there to help Champions every step of the way
  • Community: members will be joined by other Champions who are supporting the future of healthcare in their local community
  • Recognition: Champions will be acknowledged in the new facility for their support

Sarah McCullough, Director of Fundraising at CW+, said: ‘We’re delighted that work has begun on the brand-new ADC at West Mid, which will expand Trust facilities, improving patient care and saving lives. This is a milestone event for us all, and we’re excited to launch our West Mid Champions programme. We’re committed to raising £1.5m for a programme of enhancements to create the best possible healing environment for patients in this landmark facility, and our Champions will help make this vision a reality. Please sign up to the programme to support your local hospital and be part of this exciting transformational project.’

All fundraising efforts will go towards the new ADC, enhancing the patient experience through world-class imaging technology, improvements to furniture and materials and the development of green spaces where staff and patients can rest and relax. Money raised will also help produce a more dynamic visual environment to create calming waiting and treatment areas.

Ground-breaking event

The ground-breaking ceremony, which included the planting of a memorial tree, was attended by Ruth Cadbury, Member of Parliament (MP) for Brentford and Isleworth, Trust executives and the Chair and Operations Director from Bouygues UK, the company contracted to complete the building works.

CW+ staff hosted a stall at the event to promote the West Mid Champions programme and showcase a selection of design enhancements. The CW+ Arts team was also on hand to provide information about its plans for the ADC, and there was a CW+ Arts for All lunchtime performance from guitarist Adam Green and a creative activity led by Orleans House Gallery and Hounslow Wellbeing.
