A dedicated group of five staff members from Chelsea and Westminster Hospital’s Treatment Centre did a skydive to raise crucial funds for its redevelopment. We spoke to one of them, Dariana, about why she decided to take on this challenge.
I work as a Theatre Sister in the Treatment Centre, which handles a wide range of day cases and short-stay procedures. It’s like a mini hospital within a hospital, with admissions, anaesthesia, surgery, recovery and discharge all happening in the same unit. There’s a dedicated team of nurses, anaesthetists, surgeons, and other specialists working together to provide the best possible patient care.
‘We decided to take on this fundraising challenge to help make our new unity a reality’
‘We can’t wait to have a space that is welcoming for our patients’
Building work is now underway and CW+ is raising £10m towards the cost. We can’t wait to have a bigger, more modern unit, the latest equipment and technologies, new private spaces for surgeons and anaesthetists to carry out patient assessments, new staff areas for our breaks, and – most importantly – a space that is welcoming and fit for purpose for our patients.
Thanks to Dariana, Jerry, Ika, Katherine and Saad for fundraising for our new state-of-the-art day surgery unit at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
