Taking on four running challenges

I’m Dr Grant McQueen. I am a Senior Project Manager within the Emergency and Integrated Care Department, and I’m also the Operational Lead for Virtual Wards in the Trust.

This April, I will be participating in a series of running events in support of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital’s 30th anniversary and the CW+ Thirty at Thirty campaign, trying to raise £30m to mark 30 years of the hospital.

There will be one event taking place over each weekend in April. Firstly, the London Landmarks Half Marathon, followed by the Paris Marathon on the next weekend. The weekend after that will be the Crystal Palace Half Marathon, followed by the Manchester Marathon on 27 April.

The support I've received

At the moment, I’ve received really, really good encouragement and support from my friends, my family and colleagues about my fundraising activities.

I’ve received quite a lot of generous donations as well, which have been really helping me to get towards my ultimate goal of raising £1,000.

Why I'm fundraising for CW+

Celebrating the 30th anniversary of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital seemed like a really special opportunity and time to put something back into the Trust.

I wanted to fundraise for CW+ because their work has a direct impact on the quality of care and innovation that we can deliver inside the Trust.

Why you should fundraise for CW+

If you’d like to fundraise for the Trust, I’d say go for it. You’re able to make a difference and also properly challenge yourself at the same time. These can be little events that don’t require much preparation or much to get involved, or they can be something like a really big challenge like jumping out of an aeroplane.

CW+ has a broad range of events that anyone can get involved in. These happen throughout the year and it’s really easy to get involved.

The importance of charity

Charity has always played a really special part in what I think about giving back to the community. I’ve supported various charities over the previous 10 years, things that I hold quite close and quite dear to me, and I’ve been able to see the work that they deliver back to patients and individuals to help make a difference.

I think that’s why CW+ is such a great charity. I’m able to see the work that they do on the ground and also at large in the community as well.

Making a difference through CW+

If you’re considering donating to CW+’s Thirty at Thirty campaign, I would say go for it. Any donation, no matter the size, can make a significant impact. Your generosity can help support many interesting projects that are vital to patient care, innovation and making a difference in the community. By donating, you can become part of this legacy of care and compassion.
