At the age of nine, Naiole suffered severe hand injuries in a car crash. In this video, she explains how surgery and rehabilitation at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital allowed her to achieve her long-held dream of studying music at university.
Recovering after a life-changing accident
When I was nine, I had a car accident in France with my family. The first doctor who got there said: ‘I don’t know what to do.’ When I came to Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, what we were trying to do was have as much movement as possible in my hand. I had physiotherapy and surgery. I thought: ‘I’m never going to be able to do the things that I want to do.’
The support I received
The doctors and nurses were absolutely lovely. They always helped me keep a positive attitude.
Studying music at university
I am now able to study music at university level. Right after the car accident, that wouldn’t have been possible. There’s nothing better.
Giving back through music
Whenever I’m in London, I try to come in and play a short piece of music in the hospital. It brings just that little bit of light.
Why I support CW+
I would definitely recommend supporting CW+. People at this hospital still need the help.
