Hospital staff unveil their artistic talents in new exhibition

CW+ and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust are delighted to announce that their first-ever staff art exhibition has now been installed.

We invited staff and volunteers to submit their artwork for the exhibition and, following an enthusiastic response, a total of 30 pieces are now being showcased across both hospital sites: on the ground floor by Costa at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, and on the first floor in the corridor that leads to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at West Middlesex University Hospital. There is a great diversity of artistic styles on display, with art mediums from oils to inks.

The exhibition has been well received, with one staff member at West Mid commenting: ‘The artworks look great and show how creative staff are. They make the hospital feel more welcoming and human, especially because the artists are people we know and work with every day.’

Art for fundraising

Two of the artworks were selected to be sold as auction items during a recent CW+ fundraising Gala at Mansion House. ‘Journey to the Unknown’ by Pariya Afzal and ‘Art de la Table’ by Charlotte Church sold for a total of 1,150, with some proceeds going towards the charity’s Thirty at Thirty fundraising campaign. Thirty at Thirty aims to raise £30m to support the Trust in the ongoing delivery of outstanding care to the communities it serves.

Trystan Hawkins, Director of Patient Environment at CW+, said: ‘We are pleased to have launched this staff art exhibition, which showcases the artistic talent of staff in our Trust. We had 78 submissions and were extremely impressed with the high standard. It has been a fantastic opportunity for staff to demonstrate their creativity and experience its associated wellbeing benefits, as well as helping to raise money for our hospitals.’
