Creating a will not only ensures that your family, friends, and loved ones will be taken care of; it also provides an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to future generations by supporting a cause close to your heart.
We understand that a will is a deeply personal and private document, so if you are considering remembering CW+ in this special way, we sincerely thank you.
By including CW+ in your will, you help us to continue enhancing the environment at our hospitals and supporting our staff to deliver exceptional care to our patients.Â
Your gift, no matter the size, will ensure that our future patients:
We know that your family, friends and loved ones come first and that they will be your priority when writing your will. Even a small gift to CW+ can have a big impact. These are improvements that don’t just change lives today – they continue to do so for years to come.
Thanks to the generosity of fundraisers, donors and those who have left gifts in their wills, we have been able to support significant projects such as:
Contributing to the construction of the new Diagnostic, Treatment and Education Centre at West Middlesex University Hospital
Every gift in every will — from the smallest to the largest — helps make this work possible. And thanks to this continued support, we have ambitious plans to ensure future generations receive the very best care and experience when they come to our hospitals.
Would you consider following in the footsteps of those who have already made such a meaningful difference?
As a first step, we recommend you speak to a solicitor. When writing or updating your will, they can provide advice about the options available to you. Â
You’ll need to include the following information:Â
Our charity name: CW+
Our registered charity number: 1169897
Our address: CW+, 4 Verney House, 1b Hollywood Road, London, SW10 9HS
A will is easy to change either through a codicil or, now more commonly, through a letter of wishes that can include other choices such as the type of funeral you would prefer, gifts to a charity (such as CW+!) instead of flowers at your funeral, and guardians for your children.Â
As a first step, we recommend you speak to a solicitor. When writing or updating your will, they can provide advice about the options available to you. Â
We offer a free will‑writing service through the National Free Wills Network. Their solicitors provide standard legal advice, and if your circumstances are more complex, they’ll outline any additional options. CW+ covers the cost of wills made through this service. There is no obligation to leave a gift to the charity, though any support is greatly appreciated.
You can use our self-referral form to start this process or contact chloe.roberts@cwplus.org.uk to find out more.
You’re also welcome to use alternative providers such as FreeWills, FareWill, or Octopus Legacy. Whichever partner you choose, they will act solely in your interests and follow your instructions throughout.
Your gift takes only a little time to arrange, but the outcome will last for generations.
We’ll always follow your wishes when it comes to where to allocate your gift, but the medical landscape may change. In order for the charity to benefit from your legacy, it is helpful if such requests are stated as a preference rather than a condition in your will. You can make specific arrangements and get further information by contacting us at fundraising@cwplus.org.uk or completing our ‘Get in touch’ form below:
This is a cash gift of any amount of your choosing.
This is a percentage of your estate once you have taken care of your loved ones, and all other expenses have been paid.
You can leave stocks, shares, part of your pension pot or life insurance scheme.
This could be a gift of a particular item, for example a residential property or personal possessions such as a painting (see below) or jewellery.
We have an extensive art collection in our hospitals, so we understand that you may want to leave a gift of artwork. If you are considering such a gift, we would ask you to contact us beforehand so that we might discuss your intentions with you further.
We only accept donations of art that we are able to look after and that meet our acquisitions criteria. These may be slightly stricter than other institutions, because our collection is on display in a hospital environment. For this reason, we can only accept artwork on the condition that, should we want to, we would be able to sell it.
To discuss leaving a piece of artwork to CW+, please contact us on fundraising@cwplus.org.uk.
Your gift. Your choice. Your lasting legacy.Â
For John, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital was a place of memories. He remembered the hospital in his will as a way of thanking the staff who looked after him, as well as several other members of his family. He wanted to ensure that all those who follow are treated with the same dignity and kindness

Your estate might save inheritance tax if you leave CW+ a gift in your will, but this is a complicated tax and might change in the future. Your gift to us is deducted before inheritance tax, so a gift to us with a value of £10,000 might save your estate £4,000 in inheritance tax, but please take professional advice.
Gifts that are left to our general purposes mean that we can direct the funds wherever they’re most urgently needed at the time of receipt. But we understand that sometimes supporters like to fund something that is close to their heart, and try to accommodate this wherever possible.Â
However, we ask that the wording in the will is such that our patients and families are still able to benefit from your generosity, should that project or programme no longer be running at the time we receive your gift. Your solicitor or our team can advise on the appropriate wording.
If you have decided to leave us a gift in your will, or you are interested in doing so and would like to find out more, thank you. Please contact us at:
