Best For You

Best For You is an innovative approach to mental health care designed for – and in consultation with – young people and their families.

As part of the Best For You programme, we are building state-of-the-art NHS spaces, bringing together tried-and-tested digital resources on one website, and connecting organisations within and beyond the NHS to better support young people with their mental health.

By joining up these different elements of support, we’re helping to address the growing and urgent crisis in young people’s mental health, making it easier for them to access the help they need.

Best For You launched in November 2021 and is run in partnership between CW+, Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and West London NHS Trust. It is being evaluated by academic experts at Imperial College.

Building state-of-the-art NHS spaces

We are creating outstanding environments in which professionals can care for young people’s mental and physical health in new and bespoke ways.

The first space, Arc, opened in November 2023.

The CW+ Arts in Health team led on the development of Arc, bringing to life a bespoke, non-clinical yet clinically compliant space from a former office unit.

Arc was co-created by young people, family members and carers, healthcare professionals, designers, artists, and builders and tradespeople. Our co-design process involved users every step of the way to ensure the finished environment met users’ needs.

During the day, Arc is home to Arc Day Programme, which provides a one-of-a-kind model of family-based treatment for young people with eating disorders.

It provides a new and much-needed level of care that sits between community services and specialist inpatient treatment with the aim of reducing hospital admissions.

A multidisciplinary team from Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and West London NHS Trust provides family-based therapy alongside nutritional, medical, and psychological care for young people, while empowering parents and carers to support their young person’s recovery.

Arc also hosts a range of wellbeing programmes run by Best For You partner organisations.

The Reuben Young People’s Centre at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital opened in February 2025 after transformational work to create an innovative environment that supports patients, families, and carers and enables staff to give the best possible care.

The centre comprises three areas within the hospital, with considered complementary designs. The work in the Paediatric Emergency Department, Adult Emergency Department, and adolescent ward has been coordinated to improve the experience of patients who may move between the spaces (in addition to Arc).

Together, these spaces improve the journey for all young patients (and families) at Chelsea and Westminster hospital, ensuring they can access the holistic treatment and support they need in environments designed to support their recovery.

Bringing together tried-and-tested digital resources

The Best For You website exists following feedback from young people that they wanted NHS-approved advice in accessible formats and, crucially, in one place so they did not need to use search engines to find information, links to help, and urgent support across multiple websites.

The Best For You site and digital resources ensure young people have access to 24/7 support for their wellbeing.

They can find information on a range of mental health conditions, as well as content on general wellbeing and wellbeing for neurodivergent young people.

The website signposts to free digital support that young people can access on-demand, including the NATTER text support line and a range of high-quality mental health and wellbeing apps.

Borough-specific signposting pages for eight north-west London boroughs also connect young people with support in their local area, including NHS services and other relevant organisations and projects.

Best For You also maintains a presence on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter to reach young people, their parents and carers, and professionals who work with young people across a range of settings.

Connecting organisations within and beyond the NHS

In addition to working with a number of NHS organisations, Best For You collaborates with more than 75 community partners to provide information and signposting, early intervention, and support while young people wait for NHS care.

One of the key principles of Best For You is to recognise and amplify existing offers, rather than replicating anything that is already working well.

We work with YouTube as one of their Health Partners.

Videos on the Best For You YouTube channel are labelled as from a UK healthcare provider so viewers know the channel is a credible source. In addition, our videos are eligible for inclusion on YouTube’s health shelves, which bring content from authoritative health sources to the top of health-related search results.

YouTube commissioned Best For You to make videos for young people on a range of mental health conditions. We have already created a range of resources, including an animation to raise awareness about eating disorders (without triggering or imitable detail) and a video bringing together a Mental Health Campaigner with lived experience and a Consultant Psychiatrist to answer young people’s questions about schizophrenia

The rest of the commissioned videos are scheduled for release in 2024 – follow Best For You on YouTube to stay up-to-date.

We work in partnership with Chelsea Football Club Foundation (alongside other national partners) to deliver a series of programmes that support young people and meet their needs.

This includes Chelsea Connect, weekly sessions that provide young people with the opportunity to get active in different ways, from playing new games such as spike ball to engaging in leadership and confidence building activities.

The sessions are open to young people aged 16 to 25 who live in Kensington and Chelsea and have mild to moderate mental health concerns. Young people can sign up through an online form on the Chelsea Football Club Foundation website
