HIV, sexual health and gender

CW+ is proud to support the Trust’s HIV and Sexual Health Directorate, which delivers world-class care and outcomes to more than 200,000 patients a year.

How we support the HIV and Sexual Health Directorate

Our Trust’s HIV and Sexual Health Directorate is recognised as a global centre of excellence and collectively forms the largest and busiest HIV and sexual health centre in Europe.

Since 2019, following a merger with St Stephen’s AIDS Trust, CW+ has been supporting the Directorate’s world-leading work.

As well as raising money to augment the services provided in the Directorate’s clinics, CW+ also delivers projects, activities and training for patients and clinicians from across the globe.

Projects that CW+ has supported range from a transgender partnership project with the Chelsea FC Foundation to managing a programme of work that brings together clinicians from all over the world who are working to end HIV for good.

Projects

CW Innovation supported the development of Klick, an app providing medical and social functionality for people living with HIV, allowing them to manage medication and appointments, and access peer support.

The CW+ Arts for All team worked with the Trust’s Specialist HIV Physiotherapy Team and English National Ballet School to launch a programme of activity for the Kobler Rehabilitation Class, which provides group rehabilitation for our patients living with HIV.

In 2021, CW+ commissioned renowned artist Yinka Ilori who worked in collaboration with patients and staff to create unique artworks and design interventions in the St Stephen’s Centre.

CW+ provided funding and project support to our Dean Street clinics to help raise awareness of HIV testing and PrEP (a pill taken daily that prevents HIV infection). The clinics are the biggest providers of PrEP in Europe, and their campaigns have reached millions of people worldwide.

CW+ manages a programme of work through which the HIV Directorate shares its knowledge and experience with clinicians from around the world. This global collaboration and networking supports shared training and learning with the wider aim of eliminating new HIV infections by 2030.

In partnership with the Chelsea FC Foundation and funded by the Premier League Foundation, CW+ is supporting the health and wellbeing of trans/trans femme women and non-binary people through a programme of activities hosted in the CW+ Studio.

As a trans woman in the earlier stages of my transition, I have found the practical advice and group discussions so enlightening, and the friendships I’ve made have been so important
