Daisy explains why she and her husband wanted to raise funds for CW+ at their wedding
Living with a complex condition
I have been a patient at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex University Hospital for the last ten years, and I also had the privilege of working as a service manager here in 2022.
I was initially referred to the Trust for pain management. Since then, I have become more unwell. I have a condition called Neuro-Behçet’s disease, so I am under multiple different specialties in the Trust.
Choosing to fundraise through my wedding
This July, my husband and I got married. We sat down together and decided that, instead of gifts or money from our family and friends, we wanted to fundraise for causes that were very personal to us.
For me, the obvious choice was to support CW+. This Trust has repeatedly increased my quality of life. My care has always felt supportive and kind and holistic and patient centred, which is all you can ask for from a Trust as a patient.
The generosity of family and friends
We were really lucky and our family and friends gave very generously to our fundraising. They have seen the impact that Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex University Hospital have had on me and on my quality of life.
I hope they feel good knowing that they are contributing to giving that same level of care to many more people like me.
Encouraging others to support CW+
If you are thinking of supporting CW+ with fundraising – whether that is doing an event, raising money through a wedding like us, or taking on a challenge, a marathon or a race – I would recommend you go for it.
I have benefited both as a staff member and as a patient from the support of CW+ over the last 10 years and it has made my experience with these hospitals better than any other hospital I have attended.
So please, if you are thinking of supporting CW+, go for it and know that you are helping to improve the quality of life of patients like me.
