Marking six months since the expanded Adult Intensive Care Unit at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital opened to treat COVID-19 patients

Share

The first phase of the brand-new Adult Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital was opened prematurely in March 2020 in order to care for patients with COVID-19.

We specifically designed this new unit to create a patient-focused environment, with more space, accommodation for families, bespoke lighting and privacy glazing, along with the latest sensor technology to monitor patients’ health, progress and environment.

Six months on, we spoke to colleagues and clinicians about the redevelopment and the difference it has made to them and their patients – watch our short film below.

This has only been made possible thanks to the incredible generosity of our local community who supported our Critical Care Campaign – thank you to all of our donors for their generous support. Find out more information about the project here.
