We were delighted to attend the Building Better Healthcare 2018 Awards on Wednesday 31 October, where our Mum & Baby app was awarded ‘Highly Commended’ in the Best Patient-Centred HealthCare App category.
Mum & Baby is an innovative, expert-led, bespoke postnatal app, co-funded by CW+ and Imagineear, developed by the maternity team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, led by Dr Sunita Sharma, Consultant Obstetrician. The app provides new parents with reliable, up-to-date advice about looking after their baby and themselves.
Prior to its creation, the postnatal unit had significant challenged in providing consistent, reliable, relevant information to new mothers and their partners about their new role as parents.
Patient and staff feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and the app has so far been downloaded over 10,000 times. Two major versions of the app have already been developed, with a third, expanding to six hospitals throughout North West London, to be released soon.
The award judges said: “We really like this very-thoughtful app. They have clearly worked very hard with patients to get good feedback during its development and it’s paying dividends.”
The Building Better Healthcare Awards is held each year to celebrate innovation and improvement in the built environment and medical device design and to highlight the efforts of people working in the healthcare industry.
