THE MAYOR OF KENSINGTON AND CHELSEA CHOOSES CW+ AS HIS CHARITY OF THE YEAR

CW+ CEO Chris Chaney speaking at the Mayor’s Reception

CW+ is delighted to have been chosen as charity of the year by The Worshipful The Mayor of the Royal London Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Councillor Will Pascall. The appointment was made at his official inaugural reception at Kensington and Chelsea town hall. The Mayor will be supporting our work with the arts in healthcare and will help to establish our Arts for All Community Bridge programme across the Borough.

The Mayor commented, “Thank you CW+ for agreeing to be the Mayoral Charity for this year. It is an honor to help build the “Arts for All Community Bridge” which will help support peoples wellbeing in communities across the Borough.”

Alongside Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, CW+ has 26 years’ experience working at the forefront of arts and health. Our Arts for All programme is the centerpiece of this work, bringing the creative disciplines to the bedside and enhancing the lives of thousands of patients and families each year.

In partnership with the Mayor, we will take this programme to its next stage. The Arts for All Community Bridge programme will help us to reach beyond our walls and broaden the impact our work will have on the lives of people across the Borough. As part of this project we will be reaching out to and working with partners and the wider community, including Helpforce, an organisation set up by Trust chairman Sir Tom Hughes-Hallett, working to develop and spread impactful volunteer services across the NHS.

Our ambition is to improve health and wellbeing in our local community and to support residents to stay well in their communities, live independently and to connect with local and charitable services. Ultimately, we want to bridge the gap between hospital discharge and the community to help reduce emergency re-admissions, reduce pressures on GP practices and reduce social isolation.

Chris Chaney, CW+ Chief Executive said, “We are incredibly grateful to be working with the Mayor as his chosen charity over the next 12 months. We absolutely believe that our hospital has a key role to play as an anchor for health and wellbeing across the Borough. The ‘CW+ Arts for All Community Bridge’ programme will be an important step in helping us to reach more people, both within and outside of our hospital, who we would like to see benefit from the huge array of arts in health projects we currently offer to our patients.”

CW+ is delighted and extremely grateful to have been chosen as the Mayor’s charity this year. Through this opportunity it is our hope to lay the foundations for a Community Bridge that will support the people of our Borough for many years to come.
