We work to enhance our hospitals and transform the experience of patients, their families and our Trust staff.

Healing environments

Our Design and Environment programme tailors places and spaces to the needs of our hospital community. We work with specialist partners to address the factors that create an optimum healing environment, including temperature, lighting, acoustics, air quality, closeness to nature, wayfinding, privacy, technology and the arts.

We’ve been supporting research into the impact of these factors for more than 20 years, including some of the earliest hospital-based studies on whether arts can affect clinical outcomes.
